Open Air Activities in Barcelona

Barcelona is a province that offers a great variety of open air activities for all preferences. Apart from its several beaches along the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is a city bustling with life and culture. Plus, the Montjuc mountain, located on the south side of Barcelona, offer several options for those who like to go mountain biking or trekking. Plus on the top of the mountains there are beautiful parks and fountains, as well as a 17th century fortress.

The city has over 60 parks and gardens which create the perfect setting for having a picnic of just taking a leisurely stroll. Parc Guell is an incredible park to visit. It was designed by Antoni Gaud and even features some of his own mosaics and sculptures. This park creates a playful, but serene atmosphere with several trails, lots of green space, and the presence of Gaud's art. The Botanical Gardens are also a very relaxing space and a good way to spend a nice afternoon.

Las Ramblas is about 1 mile long street that is made only for pedestrians. It's situated between Plaza de Catalunya and the port in the Barrio Gtico section (Old Town) of Barcelona, and is a main passage for the Barcelona street system. People of all ages can be found here as it is lined with open-air markets, diverse shops, cafs, and restaurants.

La Barceloneta is a part of the city by the sea that used to be considered the fishermen area. Today it is possible to find several bars and restaurants which serve excellent seafood dishes.
